This important role will be responsible for developing and delivering impactful media presence to further the Commissioner's priorities and messages. Working closely with the Director of Communications, the Media Manager will work proactively to develop strong and engaging media messages, develop media relationships and deliver media content to build support and influence. The post holder will work with a range of media channels, including broadcast, print, digital and social media. You will also help to advise staff on media strategies, respond to media enquiries, react to issues in the media which are relevant to the Commissioner's remit, brief the Commissioner and other staff prior to media appearances and draft speeches and briefings as required. The main duties are to help promote a key event that happens annually so will involve handling all press and PR duties. Support the Director of Communications in developing and implementing multi-channel PR strategies and media campaigns. Develop content for use across a variety of media channels including press, broadcast and digital media and sell in to secure coverage as appropriate. Lead on day to day contact with media and parliamentary monitoring services. Proactively identify issues relating to children and childhood in the media and develop and sell in appropriate media responses. Write and sell in media press releases and other content to national, local and sector media to secure an impactful and influential presence on our key areas of priority Be the first point of contact for the media, responding to enquiries as appropriate. Write speeches, articles, blogs etc Advise staff across the organisation on media strategies and appearances. Participate in the out-of-hours media rota. Work as part of a wider communications and participation team as required. Co-ordinate and circulate daily news round up. Compile media monitoring reports. Knowledge, experience and skills Demonstrable knowledge of use of key elements of the media mix including media relations and stakeholder engagement to further organisational aims and objectives Demonstrable knowledge of traditional and digital media channels and the stakeholder environment Proven experience of securing high levels of media presence across a range of media channels Proven experience of writing persuasive and engaging content for a range of purposes including traditional media, digital media and publications Proven experience of excellent work management to balance priorities across multiple issues and managing competing deadlines Proven experience of building and managing strong and positive relationships with the media and other stakeholders Excellent written communications skills Excellent IT skills Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills Excellent problem solving skills Excellent antennae for news stories and media interest Strong news sense Attention to detail Able to turn complex information into compelling key messages Ability to balance workload to tight deadlines under pressure Able to anticipate, innovate and challenge Comfortable working with people at all levels including children and young people and senior stakeholders If you are interested in this role pleas do contact me ASAP with an up to date CV.
