Electronics Engineer An opportunity has arisen for an Electronics Engineer within the Oil and Gas Business Unit of the Process Technologies Division, based in Teesside. Employing circa 600 people, the Oil & Gas Business supplies unique and specialised detection, diagnostic and measurement solutions, as well as catalysts, adsorbents and additives, to global markets in the upstream/downstream oil & gas and petrochemical industries. We are looking for an Electronics Engineer with a passion for delighting customers with innovative solutions. The role will require the individual to design/review schematics and to write and test embedded code for instrumentation for use within the global oil and gas industry. The successful candidate will contribute directly to the deployment of innovative technology solutions for the oil and gas industry. Key responsibilities: · Designing, building and testing analogue and digital electronics components for development of industrial grade instrumentation. · Writing and testing embedded software for microcontrollers that conforms to industry standards. · Reviewing, enhancing and supporting existing products. · Providing support to the R&D team including code and electronic schematic reviews. · Authoring of technical documentation including manuals and reports. · Ensuring the design and development of products that satisfy customer’s technical requirements. · Working in compliance with Johnson Matthey’s safety policy with safety of self and others in mind at all times. · To carry out any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed. Are you the ideal candidate? · The post holder will be expected to communicate actively and effectively with internal customers and stakeholders as well as other team members. · Degree qualified in Electronics Engineering or equivalent · Experience working with analogue/digital electronics and measurement instrumentation · Solid experience using embedded C software, real-time operating systems and microcontrollers (e.g. AVR, ARM/SAM) · Understanding of full product development lifecycle · Knowledge of serial interfaces and industrial communication protocols (e.g. USB, RS485/RS232, Modbus, Bluetooth) · Experience working with FPGAs and CPLDs · Knowledge of EMC, PCB design and modelling of electronics · Experience developing applications using C# · Understanding of industry standards applied to electronics (Directives 2014/30/EU, 2014/35/EU, IEC 61508, etc.) · Self-motivating and able to motivate others and lead by example. · Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team · A genuine interest in software and hardware engineering and enthusiasm to learn new technical skills · Ability to work independently to achieve objectives in a timely manner · An enthusiastic attitude to problem-solving and project-based work This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/66861467
