I am now working exclusively with a leading Power Tools manufacturing business based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire who due to company expansion are now looking to recruit a stand out, Design Engineer form part of the in-house design engineering design team working on Saws. Client Details Based in Sheffield with multiple sites across the globe including China, my client traditionally specialised in steel dry cutting technology and pioneered advanced TCT saws. By Utilising this know how and experience, the company have developed this technology to construct a range of multipurpose saws which cut Steel, Aluminium and Wood, with just one saw and one blade. Due to company expansion and development of new products my client is looking to recruit a stand out, Design Engineer to form part of the in-house design engineering design team working on Saws Description Working within a small team as the Design Engineer you will report directly into the New Product Development Design Engineering Team. Main Duties and Tasks Form part of the in-house design engineering design team working on Circular saws, mitre saws, chop saws and associated power tools and accessories. Work alongside in-house design and external design agencies developing well thought out and appropriate engineering solutions from the ground up using Solidworks. Plan and implement design engineering activities taking into account design time, prototyping and testing. Liaising and communicating with our Chinese manufactures and in-house team in China. Design, manage and implement product quality and design improvements on existing products. Management of data and drawings control in Windchill. Location / Department Role is based in Sheffield Jobholder is a member of the New product development department. Jobholder may be required to travel periodically in UK, Europe, USA and China Other Key Internal Relationships Daily contact with our NPD team, marketing, Consumer insight research, Sales team. Regular contact with other departments in the U.S. office, the Group office in the UK, and the other offices around the world (e.g. France and the office in Shanghai). Profile Skills, Experience and Competencies Experience Minimum 3-5 years' direct experience in product engineering design Mechanical engineer qualified to degree level Ideally some background with electric motors, gearboxes and design for plastic injection mouldings / die casting Proven ability in product development from concept through to production ready design Fluent in Creo Parametric and ideally Solidworks as well Methodical approach with good attention to detail. Demonstrate an innovative and problems solving mind-set when faced with design challenges Knowledge of standards from the machinery directive relating to hand held power tools. Practical understanding of IP and patents and applying this in a design environment. Good team player able to work alongside creative design and marketing personnel. Good written and verbal skills, capable of presenting to others. Education and tools Literacy in computer based applications such as Microsoft Office. Personal Traits Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Open minded approach, happy to listen to ideas and inputs form others within the business Team player. High level of initiative. Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality. Must be able to organise and prioritise.
