Talent is partnering with a fast growing organisation in Birmingham which is heavily disrupting the industry through clever use of technology. Their solution is very well received by their target customer base and is available at a fraction of the cost. A brand new position has just been created for a Senior DevOps professional to join their team. This will play a critical role ensuring we have a highly available, scalable, stable and optimised infrastructure platform to help deliver the best possible experience for their customers. The role will assist the team in carrying on providing a high level of technical support, quality of service and continuous improvement across the organisations platforms. Furthermore, this role will help development engineering and product teams to deliver and improve features in the most efficient manner, as well as providing input to solutions. The position also provides the opportunity to provide infrastructure and design guidance for existing and future projects. For the right candidate, there will be the chance to lead a Squad of 3-4 people. You would be based at our clients new Head Office where you will report to the company directors. Remote working will be considered after a successful induction and training period. Key responsibilities Supporting the requirements of the development teams for the growing of the application platform Maintaining, supporting and continuously improving the various infrastructure platforms end to end Helping plan, project manage and implement new products and features asrequired Ensuring the reliability and availability of the clients services for millions of users Ensuring that all systems and workflows are documented and that documentation is maintained at all times Being the escalation point for infrastructure related issues when a problem resolution requires more than one party's involvement You will act as second and third line support for a large number of systems, mostly based on Microsoft Azure Iaas and Paas platform Act as part of the engineer team rotation (office hours) Act as the on-call support engineer as part of a 24/7 team rotation Automating processes and procedures to help improve efficiency and standardisation across platforms Technical skills To be successful in this role, you will need skills / experience in: Advanced, top-down web/application troubleshooting skills Proactive and have ability to use own initiative and follow issues to completion Design and implement solutions based on business requirements that are in line with architecture and best practice It would also be great have: Proficiency in Agile and DevOps Methodologies Experience in cloud delivery, CDN's Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Azure products, both IAAS and PAAS Experience of supporting and working with software engineers You will need the following attributes to be successful in this role: Strong communication skills, as you'll be collaborating with other engineering, test and development teams A self-starter with a relentless focus on getting things done You will be joining a dynamic development team, where you will have the opportunity to implement the latest technologies, following best practice.
