Internal Communications Manager London or Edinburgh £Competitive Ofcom is the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries. We regulate the TV, on-demand, radio, fixed-line telecoms, mobile telecoms and postal sectors, plus the radio spectrum over which wireless devices operate. We aim for Ofcom’s communications, both internal and external to be best in class. The communications team at Ofcom helps ensure that consumers, businesses, advocacy groups, the media and financial communities understand what we do, why we do it and how it affects them. The team is responsible for communicating with around 800 colleagues across Ofcom. We also manage all internal events, both onsite and in venues across the UK. One of our main areas of responsibility is supporting Ofcom through an organisational change programme which includes moving to agile working and taking on new regulatory responsibilities for the BBC. Key Responsibilities: As an Internal Communications Manager, your will support the Head of Internal Communications in the development and delivery of an internal communications strategy and the management of day-to-day communications across Ofcom. Duties include: - Strategic Communication Planning - Provide communications support to teams across Ofcom, identify communications priorities, writing communications plans and coming up with innovative ways of engaging colleagues with key messages - Strategic communications planning and delivery to support Ofcom’s organisational change programme - Feature and news writing - Actively seek and create interesting and innovative stories from around the business for Ofcom’s intranet which support our key messages - Manage the forward-planning of stories and other editorial content, ensuring a range of news items, features and other content which reflects the breadth of work Ofcom does - Presentation skills - Provide advice and support on content and format of a range of presentations - Produce engaging, visually attractive slides for a range of presentations to senior managers - Events management - Generate and deliver a range of events and activities which support the IC strategy - Ensure all content, production, rehearsal and logistical details are planned to the highest level in a timely and professional manner - Support other teams within the business who are delivering events - Stakeholder management - Develop a business partner relationship, working closely with Group Directors to provide strategic communications advice - Work closely with colleagues at all levels on communications issues Skills and Experience: - Previous experience in internal communications - Previous experience working on a change programme - Editorial experience: writing, editing, forward-planning and aligning content to strategic priorities - Ability to take a strategic approach to internal communications - Excellent presentational, verbal and writing skills - Strong interpersonal and communication skills - Capable of working with senior managers in a confident and sensitive manner - Proficient user of MS Office, particularly Outlook and PowerPoint Desirable Skills and Experience: - Experience of Adobe design programmes - SharePoint - Previous experience using a content management system - Some line management experience Qualifications: - A degree or equivalent qualifications Closing date: 28/10/2016 To apply for the role of Internal Communications Manager, please apply via the button shown.
