BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ANALYST - SLOUGH - £25K BENEFITS An excellent opportunity has arisen within a global, field leading organisation currently looking to recruit a Business Intelligence Analyst to be based out of their Slough offices. PURPOSE SUMMARY: A key member of the IT BI team, the BI Analyst will help drive our use of BI technologies to ensure data integrity, deliver new and innovative insights into the data, and help drive improvements in business decision making. Key measures for the role include high customer satisfaction, high levels of trust in the data provided, a single source of data for reporting, and innovative ideas on data presentation, processing and usage. As a role, this represents an excellent opportunity to get in at base level of big data – to gain an understanding of data, of the tools to manipulate data and to see how a successful business utilises that data. You will be numerate, proactive and willing to learn every day you’re in the office. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Principal escalation point for BI support issues that cannot be resolved by first-line support: BI software/environment queries & training issues (e.g. Business Objects, Pan Intelligence, SQL Server) Assistance with report creation BI error message resolution via third-party support Investigation of data anomalies through to resolution Data warehouse day-to-day support Communicate the status of open incidents to the call originators on a regular basis Generation of Data Quality reports to ensure data integrity is maintained in the data warehouse and related systems Assist with definition of new business and/or data requirements and develop new BI reports/dashboards/data elements as needed across the BI Suite. This will include local reports and consolidated European reporting. Assist with testing related to BI development Management of user access to BI Suite of tools Organise and participate in key user training and product workshops To maintain Data Definitions for the BI systems and advise where changes to applications, systems or processes will affect data definitions or data flow To provide holiday cover for BI staff members as and when required To contribute to Continuous Service Improvement in BI discussions, putting forward potential suggestions to improve working practices within the business Represent BI in cross-functional teams KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS: You will gain a good working knowledge of Business Objects You will gain a thorough understanding of SQL Server database and data warehousing principles You will gain a deep understanding of big data You will gain strong knowledge of an ETL tool (a tool to load data warehouses) You will gain an understanding of IT projects, culture and architecture This really is an excellent opportunity to join an organisation that will be able to offer career progression and personal development.
