Embedded C/C++ Software Engineer - Defence/Security - Tewkesbury Description: The post holder will be responsible for the Design, development, implementation, test, integration and delivery of sound technical solutions in a communications related cryptographic/cyber security environment. Working closely with discipline Team Lead and other Engineers to contribute to business improvements in division products, technology and processes. Main Duties of this Position: Realisation of complex system requirements to provide robust and reliable technical solutions. Generate supporting technical documentation of a sufficient standard as to be sent to external customers. Collaborate with other team members (including engineers in other disciplines) to agree system designs, interfaces and protocols etc. Devise appropriate test procedures, both informal and formal, to verify the correct operation of design solutions, and to perform bench tests for regression analysis. Contribute to project schedule estimates and technical risk identification Provide progress and technical updates to the project manager Prepare material for, and contribute to design reviews Work consistently towards vocational targets as planned via the Personal Development Review (PDR) scheme. Conduct themselves as a role model for other departmental Engineers. Work with more junior Engineers in a mentoring role. Qualifications / Skills Required: In order to be successful within this role and reap the benefits that come with it is essential that the right candidate is/has: Degree qualified in electronics/engineering related subject (preferably at 2.1 hons or higher) Must be able to gain secruity clearance. Excellent design standards and strong debug skills The ability to read and understand specifications and protocols Proficient in writing concise documentation for requirements; design, interface and test specifications Understanding and appreciation of underlying digital hardware Design, development and implementation of software. Solid Embedded C/C++ programming/debug skills in an object orientated architecture. Embedded and real-time systems. Both low-level and high-level software. Writing software to coding guidelines with knowledge of testing and documentation processes. Whilst not essential, it would be preferable if the perfect candidate has: An appreciation of other engineering disciplines System engineering, requirements capture, requirements analysis, requirements decomposition and requirements management using DOORS Excellent understanding of all software concepts including modularity, and design for re-use.
