Systems Analyst - technical analysis & design, technical requirements - Permanent - FLEXIBLE LOCATION (The role can be based at the clients' offices in either Leicester or Cheshire - Competitive salary dependent on experience pension JOB PURPOSE The Systems Analyst will report to the Development Team Leader within Application Services. The job holder will assume responsibility for the analysis and documentation of the client's current systems and producing technical requirements for new systems and system enhancements. This role would suit an ex Developer/Programmer who has moved into a more Analytical role, dealing with technical requirements, design and stakeholder management. ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Gain technical knowledge of client systems and processes Application/technical design for new systems and system enhancements to allow developers to make system enhancements Configuration of existing systems to meet business requirements Identify and facilitate opportunities for continuous improvement in the product, process and service Create and QA effective development documentation to facilitate maintenance and support of developed products Travel to other sites as required, including outside the UK on occasions COMPETENCIES Relationship Mgmt - Possesses good written and verbal communication skills and is able to work effectively with peers and colleagues from within Technology Customer Mgmt - Able to work with internal customers to establish/validate application requirements. Understands that colleagues in the business are customers and adopts a Service Excellence ethos. Able to communicate effectively with non technical staff Technical expertise - Produces application designs and appropriate documentation. Analyses existing systems and data to be able to understand at a technical level how the systems are written and deployed. Quality management - Strong adherence to quality processes and understanding of right first time approach and able to review code to ensure quality controls are in place General - A proactive, flexible and self-motivated individual SKILLS Previous experience as a systems developer. Excellent database skills, either MS SQL Server or MySQL would be preferable. Strong analysis skills Good problem solving skills. Has the ability to understand technical requirements and create application designs based on those requirements Able to communicate effectively with non technical staff including Business Analysts and end users throughout the life of a project Strong testing skills Ability to work in both agile and waterfall methodologies Previous experience of working in a similar position Experience in working with remote development teams both in the UK and off-shore Excellent attention to detail Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar technical role Willing to travel to other sites.
