Exciting permanent opportunity for a Tech Ops Engineer to work in South East London. In order to support production systems and the on-going development of multiple systems my client is looking to recruit in to their Technical Operations Team. This team provides 24/7 cover. To deliver effective second line operational support for products and services globally. Collaborating with Engineering and support teams to develop and foster DevOps working practices. This is a technical role with a customer focus, emphasis on service improvement and a requirement to develop closer working relationships with teams based overseas. Main Duties: To work within a programme alongside developers, PO's, QA analysts and Integration Engineers representing the Technical Operations Team. Able to analyse, diagnose and resolve faults in specific area of technical knowledge. Appropriately assign faults to other groups and within the team, ensuring clear handover and documentation. Deal with time critical outages in a calm and concise manner, ensuring all stakeholders are kept fully informed of progress on break/fix and/or change activity. Implement changes. Interpreting change requests and implementing using defined change control processes. Understanding the impact of changes outside immediate technical area and being prepared to challenge requests that might impact production services. Execute allocated project tasks and software changes. Carry out application releases in test and production environments. Proactive monitoring and maintenance for fault prevention as required. Skills of interest: Background in Linux/Unix Administration Prior experience in application/software support role - must be demonstrated at both an application and server level Web based background consisting of: Apache, Tomcat, Content Management Systems, Java. Knowledge of Nagios or Jenkins or Puppet or GIT/Stash or Shell programming. Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef or an equivalent. Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (experience with AWS preferred) A working understanding of code and script (Bash or PHP or Python or Perl or Ruby) This role offers a competitive basic salary and attractive package including 25 days holiday, up to 16% pension contribution, life assurance, season ticket loans, private healthcare etc. This is a fantastic chance to join a large well established company with over 250 staff in the IT department.
