Main Function of the job o The bank has deployed a substantial Splunk infrastructure across the entire firm, collating security event logs from an extensive range of technologies and sources; Windows Server and Red Hat Linux, , network and storage devices, as well as Oracle and MS-SQL Server databases. The service supports and range of regulatory and internal reporting and monitoring of Barclays IT systems and services. o The overall job role will involve managing the firm’s Splunk deployment and, as business needs adapt, take on responsibilities for managing further Information Security applications as required. The candidate will work in the firm’s Global Information Security, Technology and Risk department. Key Accountabilities This section should include: o Key specific accountabilities. o Maintain the Splunk infrastructure and Service Model. o Act as a senior technical lead representing the team in executing major Splunk build activities through the bank activities. o Perform analysis and solution implementation for internal customer requirements. o Stakeholder management and leadership. o Engage with multiple senior stakeholders across a diverse and global IT customer base, negotiating appropriate prioritisation of work o Timely and accurate communication of project status reports, risks and issues to key stakeholders o Manage, co-ordinate and implement technical project activities o Evaluate and analyse business requirements and design suitable solutions, challenging requirements where necessary o Management and oversight of consultants assigned to specific project o Decision making and problem solving. o Represent team as senior technical subject matter expert and key decision maker in project meetings and activities. o Onboard data feeds and reporting based on agreed requirements. o Provide 2 nd and 3 rd line knowledge to complex technology related incidents and changes. Person specification: Your Skills and Qualifications will include The successful candidate has experience managing a Splunk deployment in a large enterprise, ideally focused on security data from a range of technologies. Experience in designing and implementing custom Splunk applications and dashboards combining multiple data sets and large volumes of data. The candidate will also have a significant Information Technology experience gained in large enterprises. The candidate has a track record of working successfully on major projects, with minimal supervision. Mandatory skills: o Strong interpersonal skills; role will require engagement with a varied and global internal customer base o Negotiation and prioritisation skills; role will require the ability to negotiate and prioritise activities with senior stakeholders based on available resources o Strong written and oral communication skills; will be required to present service strategies and roadmaps to a global audience, and communicate project status to key stakeholders o Ability to mentor more junior team members, drawing on depth of experience o Documentation skills in order to provide high quality documentation for internal customers and technical support teams o Deep knowledge of the Splunk, including managing Splunk infrastructure, Data Extraction and Application and UI development. Solid knowledge of the Linux Server platform o Availability to perform occasion out-of-hours / weekend work o Ability to multi-task, and work under pressure and to deadlines o Openness to learning and managing additional Information Security technologies as business requirements change o Understands the requirements of strong governance in a large financial environment, particularly around Change Management, Risk Management, handling major and minor incidents, Disaster Recovery planning / testing and meeting requirements of rigorous Audit mandates o Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues successfully o Ability to review business problems / requirements (particularly Audit related) and propose innovative solutions Other skills (useful but not essential): o Scripting, particularly in Python and Perl o Knowledge of the networking concepts and troubleshooting o Knowledge of PGP Universal and RSA Authentication Manager (or any other two factor authentication product) o CISSP certification How to Apply Please click the apply now button below.
