Our client, a major manufacturer based in Peterborough with a globally recognised brand, has just made available a permanent opportunity for a Product Safety & Compliance Engineer to join their team, offering a salary up to £52,000, plus excellent benefits. Working in a small team within the Peterborough Engineering & Technology centre, you will provide regulatory support to Product Management, Engineering, and Customers. You will use your understanding of diesel engines and their applications to ensure that safety hazards are adequately mitigated and compliance risks are identified and managed. Key Responsibilities of the Product Safety & Compliance Engineer Identification and interpretation of product standards, non-emissions regulations and certification requirements for Diesel Engines across product lines and markets Ensure timely completion of product compliance documentation, risk assessments, and safety/compliance audits on behalf of Product Management Providing support to product development engineers in the identification of hazards, and definition of appropriate mitigation actions Act as the ‘voice of the regulator’; be a product safety advocate and subject matter expert, protecting the integrity and consistency of our brands Lead initiatives to introduce compliance to new regulations, provide training and drive increased cultural awareness of Product Safety and Regulatory Issues Qualifications and Experience required for the Product Safety & Compliance Engineer role Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, along with product design and development experience Experience of design of diesel engines, earthmoving machinery, construction equipment, or generating sets Experience in creation of product compliance documentation for 2006/42/EC Machinery Directive (Technical Files, Risk Assessments) Proven ability to build strategic working relationships, understand business constraints and context, and resolve conflict through compromise and consensus building. Self-directed and capable of handling and prioritising multiple projects Strong commitment to product safety and quality, with excellent communication skills at all levels Desired: Master’s degree in Engineering or Materials Science Professional Engineering accreditation Understanding of European product requirements, 2014/30/EU EMC Directive, 1907/2006 REACH, 2011/65/EU ROHS, and Functional Safety Standards Previous experience of process ownership and development Six Sigma Qualification To apply, please send us a copy of your up to date CV clearly indicating your relevant experience.
