Contract Type
Automation scientist for growing biotech company with HTS, robotics and biology lab automation experience Your new company Is a growing biotechnology company in the Cambridge area, that is looking to expand their automation team. Your new role As an Automation Scientist, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining and testing the company's automated high throughput screening (HTS) equipment, which has several aspects to it, including robotic arms. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve monitoring the equipment, and troubleshooting any issues that arise, before coming up with action plans to ensure that the system is continually optimised. As the company deals with a range of customers, you may well be required to interact with people from outside the business, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with competing demands and deadlines on projects. You will also help to write scripts/small programs for the equipment, but this is an aspect that can be taught. What you'll need to succeed Excellent organisational, time management and planning skills, as you will be working in several projects at once. Strong communication skills are also required, as is a demonstrated ability to work in a biological lab environment. Previous experience of working with automated systems is necessary for the role, and a scientific degree (or equivalent industrial experience) is needed. Candidates who have experience writing scripts/software are at an advantage, but this can be easily trained by experienced team members within the department. What you'll get in return An excellent working environment, with plenty of training, development and progression opportunities.
