We are seeking an experienced, ambitious and commercially astute Lead Design Engineer to lead a multi-disciplined team within a vibrant and exciting manufacturing business who design and manufacture OEM technical products for major customers throughout the world. Reporting to the Chief Design Officer, the key purpose of this role is to lead and manage all design aspects of the client's products and services including; product design, user experience, and industrial design, for new product development, introduction and launch.The timely management of projects, in line with customer expectations, within agreed timeframes, cost and specification are a key requirement. The role will be a key influencing member of the management team, focused on delivering the growth expectations of the business. Key responsibilities include:- Ø Maintaining the product development edge of the Company to ensure strategy definition and delivery Ø Developing new products; reacting to both customer enquiries and demands and introducing new products designed to enhance the Company's product offering to the market Ø Developing product and process improvement programmes to ensure technical performance, margin delivery, quality, reliability etc. Ø Introducing and monitoring technical related KPIs Ø Integrating the project management function and continued clarity on project responsibility and progression Ø Achieving targets for revenue, profitability, ROI and sales growth through new projects (product enhancement or new technology) Ø As a customer centric organisation, assisting the sales efforts from a technical perspective Ø Consistently delivering a high quality technical response to prospects / customers. Ø Effectively leading the department to assure career progression, technical competence and a skilled workforce to meet continued business needs. Ø Managing overall team performance including both the effectiveness of the team, measured in terms of the quality of the work delivered; and efficiency, relating to the time taken and resources used to deliver the work. The successful candidate will be an Engineering graduate (preferably chartered) with a minimum of 7-10 years’ in a product development/manufacturing environment and will have experience of effectively launching projects in tandem. Experience in a compressed air, pneumatic or vacuum industry would be a key advantage. A strong history of customer development and product positioning to assure competitive advantage is key.
