An Automotive Resident Engineer is required to join a global automotive component manufacturer. As the Resident Engineer you will be responsible for theday to day engineering liaison with customer and your organisation on all project activities and being the primary engineering representative based within Customer Engineering Centre reporting directly to the Programme Manager. Competitive Salary and Excellent Benefits Package As Resident Engineer your key responsibilities will include: Lead / Support customer reviews (PMST, APQP, DFMEA, Package, Safety, VCC Manufacturing, Proto-build phases, Launch Phases) throughout the project lifecycle Support R&D through concise communication of program data for the generation of concept designs and concern solutions Liaise with BIW Engineering departments throughout the development process cycle and provide an integrated service back to the Program teams Understanding of Automotive OEM Product Development Systems Support the organisations Programme Management structure and gateway requirements Ability to manipulate, view and understand CAD data and Engineering drawings Identify and action personal training needs and development Will be spending 80-95% of time on customer site and is expected to travel as required to support customer and Company objectives To be successful in the role of Resident Engineer you will have the following key skills: Good communication skills to interact at all levels across the business including customers, suppliers, sales and engineers both internal and 2nd Tier, with ability to present to a senior level of management Qualified to Graduate level in appropriate engineering discipline Experience of delivering major development programmes within time and budget constraints Experienced in development of BIW systems and components and ideally have an understanding of manufacturing techniques associated with products being developed ; forging, bending, assembly, pressing, tooling and welding processes, would be a beneficial Experience of Project Management techniques and following a gate way managed Programme delivery process. Ability to understand, interpret and act upon customer feedback Extensive knowledge of Microsoft software such as Project, Excel, PowerPoint and Word Strong team-working skills, decision making, and ability to provide direction as appropriate Proactive and positive attitude and approach.
