Filton Abbey Wood - 4 Track Capacity Improvement (Bristol) Job Title: Section Engineer (Structures) Date required: November 2016 Project Overview: Filton Abbey Wood - 4 Track Capacity Improvement is a design and build project to undertake installation of 15 km of track renewal, upgrading 17 existing railway structures including 4 bridge reconstructions for electrification clearance and upgrade to two stations in order to improve capacity of the local network for Network Rail Infrastructure Limited. Overall value is circa £30m over a 2.5 year design and construction period commencing October 2014. The civil works involve bridge demolition, piling and soil nailing, embankment and cutting stabilisation earthworks, and construction of a new road and foot bridges. The project also involves platform extensions and upgrades including M&E works, CIS, CCTV, PA help points and external lighting. The rail works include replacement track bed, track drainage, track and the diversion of rail side communications GSMR Masts and cables. With the varied scope come a number of challenges including approval of design and interfaces with the numerous work packages. The contract will be Network Rail 12 (NR Amendments to ICC Target Cost Version (August 2011)) Project office is based on site in Bristol. Role Overview: Section engineer responsible for structures works working within the structures team. Reporting to section managers / senior engineers / general foremen. Works include bridge demolitions, reconstructions and replacements as well as strengthening works. Works are to NR standards in a live rail environment and within the public realm. Responsibilities: Managing the engineering requirements on a section of work Meeting all HSEQ requirements Procurement / ordering of materials Quality Control of the works ITP's / check sheets Keeping site records - daily diaries / RV's etc Production of weekly rolling programmes Support to site engineers Producing and approving PtP's- Authorised Person Role Production of Work Package Plans / MS / RA's / Task briefings Develops innovative engineering solutions Assist in development construction methodologies / plans / programmes Management of site activates Progress reporting Cost Forecast for section of work Required Qualifications & Skills: Civil Engineering Degree desirable Demonstrates commitment and progression towards professional qualification CSCS PTS - desirable SMSTS Familiar with COINS desirable Familiar with 4 Projects / Project Wise / CAD Experience of major Rail multidisciplinary projects essential Familiar with Network Rail processes / procedures / systems / standards - desirable Behaviours: Strong proactive leadership in terms of HSE Applies collaborative approach and encourages and promotes a team approach Highly innovative balanced with practical application Compliance with Company and NR procedures Customer Orientation & Focus Attention to detailed and thorough planning Enthusiastic Deals with all situations in a calm and controlled manner This job was originally posted as
