Due to expansion my client is seeking to strengthen their engineering team by recruiting a mechanical design engineer. Ideally they would like someone from the Aerospace Industry. My client is recognised as a specialist in the business of turnkey enclosure design and manufacture involved in a wide range of mechanical, electrical and systems disciplines. Much of our work involves adapting standard products or providing totally bespoke solutions to satisfy demanding customer-specific applications. Consequently, we are an engineering-led organisation and are seeking to expand our technical team. Our engineering team get involved in a very broad spectrum of engineering problems including: Mechanical Design Electrical/Electronic Design Backplane and PCB Design Systems Design & Integration Thermal Analysis & Management of Conduction and Convection-Cooled Systems Power Supply Solutions EMC & Environmental Testing The duties and responsibilities of the mechanical design engineer position will include: Member of the engineering department reporting to the engineering manager Leading or being a member of project teams comprising a mix of mechanical & electrical engineers Undertaking mechanical design of company products from conception to full detailing and post-design activities including: Conceptual Layouts Mechanical Enclosure Design Cable Management Thermal Management Generation of manufacturing data, bills of materials and production routing Development of test procedures and support to the production test team Generation of User Manuals and Customer required documentation Creating and modifying systems or components Assisting in enhancements and improvements to the company’s engineering processes and procedures Liaising closely with the company’s sales and production teams Working within an ISO9001 quality system Some appreciation of some or all of the following would be a distinct advantage: EMC and/or environmental test methods & procedures Thermal management/analysis of electronic equipment Mechanical stress analysis CE, RoHS and WEEE directives Knowledge of the following systems: Pro-Engineer/ CREO Auto-Cad Intralink Flowtherm Microsoft Office Applications Knowledge of the following standards 19” Racking – IEC 60297 ARINC 404 ARINC 600 The company operates flexible working hours - core hours are from 09:00 – 16:00, Mon-Fri with a ½ or 1 hour lunch-break to be taken between 12:00 and 14:00. The number of hours to be worked in any working week is 40 hours with potential to work additional hours to gain a day in lieu to be taken the following month. The position has a holiday entitlement of 25 days pro-rated for the first calendar year (holiday year runs from Jan – Dec) The position is subject to a 3 month probationary period. There is a contributory stakeholder pension scheme whereby the company matches contributions up to 4% which the successful candidate would be eligible to join following satisfactory completion of the probationary period. There is also life assurance cover of 4 x salary immediately upon joining the company. This hands-on position would suit a self-motivated designer looking to further their career or a more experienced mechanical/systems engineer interested in getting involved in a wide variety of different activities.
