Linux Systems Specialist Our client, an established but expanding e-business consultancy and integrator based in Bristol seek a Linux Systems Specialist who enjoys a variety of technical work to join a friendly team of fellow minded technical people - no suits office environment .Salary is negotiable but excellent for the right candidate . Technologies they work on are various on top of the main requirement which is Linux . If you have worked on any of the following diversities or are interested in these environments then you are exactly the sort of person they would like to get aboard - having an interest in this is a real bonus to them . These include Linux, elasticsearch, couchbase, palo, palo alto, netscaler, web software, puppet, network infrastructure, ansible, xen server , chef, docker Any work involving data centre system administration and technical support are a bonus .Perhaps you might have a background in an ecommerce environment on such as Citrix, firewalls , Zend or Apache . Monitoring tools eg Cacti or MonYog for MySQL , wider the experience the better but Linux is key . Summary of role: As part of a team the candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of a variety of Linux systems and network infrastructure to support several well known growing businesses and their Internet services. Specific responsibilities: Work as part of a team responsible for the administration of over 100 Linux systems and the network infrastructure delivering this to internal and external users; Provide a mix of level 2 and level 3 technical support and diagnostic assistance to support and development colleagues; Liaise with suppliers on purchasing new equipment and maintaining the existing estate; Assist specialist staff and senior engineers in diagnosing and resolving problems; Monitoring long-term system capacity and identifying potential bottlenecks and shortfalls and proposing remedies; Operate within, and help update, key performance indicators and service level agreements as agreed with customers; Working with configuration management tool to produce consistent system builds and remedy non-compliant systems; Maintaining awareness of, and operating within, appropriate security and compliance frameworks necessary for e-commerce operations; Writing and updating systems documentation; Participate in out-of-hours systems upgrades and the on-call engineer rota; salary is negotiable depending on experience Linux, Unix, systems engineer ,data centre ,elasticsearch, couchbase, palo, ,support, administrator, system administrator, palo alto, netscaler, web,software, puppet, network, infrastructure, level 2 , level 3, Bristol This job was originally posted as
