Role and Responsibilities We are looking for a Kitchen Porter who is looking to progress to Chef. Primarily working as Kitchen Porter will work in our restaurant and other kitchens to learn what it takes to become a chef. As a Kitchen Porter you will work in partnership with the Chef to ensure the smooth running of the Kitchen, by ensuring the Kitchen is clean and well organised at all times. As trainee chef, you will study the functions of each kitchen section and ideally by rotating throughout the kitchen stations as you develop your culinary skills. You will report directly to the head chef. Key duties/responsibilities of a Kitchen Porter/ Trainee chef: ·Expected to assist the head chef, sous chef, line chefs and other kitchen staff in food preparation. ·Responsibility of supporting kitchen staff in maintaining high culinary standards. ·Assisting the head chef in ensuring that dishes are prepared and served on time. ·Excellent skills in attending to details. ·Be able to make exact measurements according to recipes and perform well in a team ·Maintaining a high level of food quality and production with the aim of exceeding our guest's expectations. ·Responsible for storing all leftover food and keeping the restaurant clean. ·Ensures that the kitchen conforms to local health department codes. ·Ensuring the security of all foods, chemicals and equipment by maintaining procedures laid down by the Health and Safety Policy. ·Ensures that requirements for appropriate sanitation and safety levels in respective areas are met and to ensure that at all times cleanliness, food safety and all other Health and Safety matters are adhered to so as not to breach any legislative points within the Food Safety Act 1990 or the Health and Safety at Work Act. ·Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. ·Assisting in deliveries of produce and stock rotation. ·Ability to stand 90% of time. ·Required to work regularly with sharp objects. ·Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications and Education Requirements ·Will be required to undertake an apprentice scheme or other relevant qualification Preferred Skills ·6 months kitchen experience ·First aid skills are an advantage. ·Health and safety and food hygiene certificates Additional Notes This is an incredible opportunity to learn everything you can about the art of cooking.
