6 month contract - Leeds city centre Solution Architect Skills and Experience Commercial and technical acumen, demonstrating a strong, creative analytical approach with attention to detail and ability to articulate thoughts and solutions in a logical manner. Proven problem-solving ability. Ability to prepare and deliver documents, analysis and presentations to a high standard working to strict deadlines. Ability to question others, shape and confirm ideas and solve problems creatively. You must be self -sufficient, able to lead on given deliverables with minimal supervision and intervention, organising meetings, workshops as appropriate to achieve desired outcomes. Proven ability to design solutions against a business benefit and ability to challenge where appropriate. Putting together solution designs across multiple technical components Data modelling, in a warehousing and reporting context Knowledge: You will demonstrate a strong knowledge of Solution Architecture principles, practices, techniques and tools appropriate for use in both Waterfall and Agile methods. You will have an understanding of Project Management principles, practices, techniques and tools. Accounting packages and platforms Budgeting solutions BI tools and Data Warehousing tools Microsoft SQL and Cognos tools Leading the IT analysis and design of large-scale, complex business and financial change in a dynamic and changing environment Proven track record and ability to advocate best practice within a large and full life cycle business transformation project External supplier management and design approval activities Implementation of large scale Data, BI or reporting solutions. Financial reporting design and implementation The role: To support the project team by designing and delivering appropriate technology solutions across multiple platforms to achieve an efficient and effective implementation. The project focuses on implementing a new accounting standard which will have significant and wide-ranging impacts on the departments, systems and processes of the companies Credit and Digital businesses. Responsible for the preparation and sign-off of the Solution Architecture Document and Infrastructure Design by: Documenting the architecture As Is state; Reviewing and challenging the business and system requirements; and Matching the business and system requirements to the technology, thus documenting the architecture To Be state. Provide strategic, expert advice and consultation on the development and implementation of effective IT solutions. Play an active role in the Request For Proposal (RFP) process in order to facilitate a Build vs. Buy decision by: Assisting in the preparation of RFP documentation; Reviewing supplier responses; Participating in the supplier selection process; and Ultimately assisting in the Build vs. Buy recommendation process. Communicate regularly with the IT Project Manager regarding the status of solution architecture activities. Provide technical oversight to partners in the implementation of the chosen solution Work with business and IT colleagues to successfully deliver required changes through each stage of the project life-cycle, providing specialist input as required. Proactively identify and log risks and issues to the project as appropriate taking ownership to resolve or escalate.
