Job Description You will guide a team that is charged with a product line contribution as a business unit. This extends from increasing the profitability of existing products to developing new products for the company and creating technical partnerships with 3rd parties for joint solutions. You will build products from existing ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on your industry experience/analysis and your contact with customers, prospects and technology partners. You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You must enjoy spending time in the market to understand their problems, and find innovative solutions for the broader market. You must be able to communicate with all areas of the company. You will work with engineering to deliver product release requirements and with marketing to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for your products, occasionally working with the sales channel and key customers. Key Responsibilities Managing the entire product line (web products) life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities Specifying market requirements for current and future versions and products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and prospects / non-customers Driving a solution set across development teams (primarily Development/Engineering, and Marketing Communications - all based in Theale) through market requirements, product contract, and positioning Analyzing potential partner relationships for the product and developing joint solutions Building simple, compelling technical communiqués and collateral Delivering webinars to customers, prospects and partners Act as a key player in the Product Management team to create and drive the strategic direction and vision of the company Skills Profile This job would suit an existing technical product manager or a technical presales/SE who is looking to move into Product Management Personal Characteristics Maturity - Able to deal with a steady stream of conflicting requests. Sense of urgency - Posses a high energy level which allows them to react to situations quickly and decisively, possessing self confidence to be assertive when taking a position, not afraid to make decisions while at the same time acting as a strong mentor sales and marketing as a whole. Accountability - Results oriented team player that leads by example, holds themselves accountable for performance, takes absolute ownership, and champions all aspects of sales and marketing You will have 4 years in product management in the technology industry Strong knowledge of internet technologies, including Web and Email content filtering 2 years' experience with web gateways or firewalls Strong familiarity with Linux, Windows and VMware Hands on experience with scripting, e.g. Perl/Python to integrate 3 party products Demonstrated ability to grasp strategic business issues Demonstrated ability to grasp technical issues Strong written and verbal communication skills Natural leadership ability Bachelor's degree is required (candidates without, but with increased experience will also be considered) This job was originally posted as
