Exciting new 6 month contract role to work as a Java API Architect / Technical Lead for a blue chip company in Sunderland. Role: The Architect / Technical Lead will be responsible for helping the company implement an API Management platform, and supporting a parallel implementation of the same platform within another part of the business. The role will involve working with product vendors, system integrators and stakeholders within the organisation, working with project teams to build pilot API products and help to raise awareness of APIs within IS and business units. Skills required: Experience of creating and delivering against technical specifications Previous experience of working with API Management solutions. A solid understanding of the concepts behind API-M and the function of the platform is essential. Some project management skills e.g. Risk and Issues Clear and effective communication; experience of communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience Ability to create and deliver against a project plan Technical ability: Development experience - ideally Java (back-end) and JavaScript (front-end). Good understanding of JSON. Strong understanding of REST principles, API design practices, OpenAPI / Swagger specifications. Good understanding of developing against common authentication protocols, in particular, SAML, oAuth2 and OpenIDConnect. Familiarity of Cloud architectures. Previous experience of woRking with networking and IAM components such as IdPs, proxies and load balancers. Additional competencies: Willingness to travel internationally. French language skills optional but beneficial.
