My client are a global Consultancy who operate across the whole Engineering spectrum and Construction marketplace.

Due to another period of sustained growth, their Wakefield office is looking to employ a Technical Director to head up their Bridges team. This position would suit either an existing TD looking for a more autonomous environment or a driven and motivated Associate looking to step up into a difference making role. This truly is a unique position and a key hire for a business that is going from strength to strength.

The main purpose of the job is to lead projects in the delivery of civil engineering, structural engineering and multi-disciplinary projects. It is essential for this position that you have a background from within the UK and have the credibility to lead their technical engagement with key clients and stakeholders.

As a TD, you will lead and develop the structures team's technical capability by developing and delivering technical solutions and ensuring successful delivery of projects by leading and coordinating cross-discipline interfaces. You will develop guidelines and provide strategic, technical and project guidance to teams working on projects and services, plus you will lead on interpretation of regulations and legislation and ensure that their designs comply with policies and standards as necessary.

You will have a Degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant discipline and be a Chartered or Incorporated Member of a relevant professional institution.

It is essential for the role that you have a proven track record of the relevant engineering and technical disciplines and the ability to build relationships and interact effectively with stakeholders at a senior level. You will be accustomed to operating at senior levels within an organisation with demonstrable experience of being able to check and approve designs for technical accuracy. It is desirable that you have experience of Contractor's Engineering Manager (CEM) and Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE) roles on large scale engineering projects from a design perspective.

As this is a senior level position, you will have the ability to handle difficult and sensitive situations using sound, independent judgment within general policy and legal guidelines, and will develop and maintain excellent relationships with both colleagues and clients, communicating effectively with all relevant stakeholders.

A full UK drivers license is required
