About You Are you an experienced Solution or Enterprise Architect looking to gain a greater breadth of experience with leading-edge technologies in a world-class research environment? Do you want to develop and deliver a brand new range of Digital services for our Research community. Including a mix of Cloud services from a range of providers as well as in-house high-performance compute & analytics and research data management for petabyte-scale data sets. Job Purpose As an experienced Architect you will be accountable for the Enterprise Architecture in the Research domain and will report to the Chief Architect. You will focus on building a roadmap that helps the University realise it’s research ambitions; working with senior business stakeholders to get their input and gain support for the approach, the vision and the roadmap; and, making sure technology delivery is aligned to our principles and policies. You will also be responsible for directing, monitoring and coaching Solution Architects in the production of High Level Designs and other architecture artefacts and deliverables for projects. Job Responsibilities As a strategic role for IS you will take a lead in developing and implementing roadmaps, governance, promoting best practice and industry standards to ensure the delivery of fit for purpose solutions across a varied range of technologies across this global diverse landscape. Working with the Chief Architect you will be a proactive Enterprise Architect, helping to develop less experienced Solution Architects within the team and work with various business stakeholders to demonstrate how technology can be better aligned and integrated to enhance both the University’s performance and capabilities. Core Skills Educated to degree level or equivalent with relevant experience Proven experience acting in an Solution or Enterprise Architect capacity within a large and complex organisation with knowledge and appreciation of architecture standards such as Togaf Experience in a variety of IT Techniques and principles would be highly desirable including Business Analysis, Data Modelling and Software Development Demonstrable experience of understanding and interpreting business and administrative processes with the ability to create fit for purpose technology solutions. A demonstrable track record of influencing and negotiating with key stakeholders at a senior level across organisational boundaries. Experience of managing or mentoring staff and managing 3rd parties will be required.
