We are recruiting for a Commissioning Engineer for a variety of work, ranging from custom builds, repeat builds, product support, product development and research. A Commissioning Engineer is a hands-on role finishing the build of company systems which involves a complete diagnosis and repair of electrical and mechanical functionality. This is challenging technical role. The role will initially be for 6 months but with a possibility of being extended or made permanent. Main Responsibilities: Set-up, configure and test our existing products and systems, including integration of third party systems establishing complete connectivity through network communications. Work with Engineering to develop new and existing products Present finished products to our customers ensuring full factory acceptance testing integrated with project stage payment deadlines. This often requires management of customer's expectations and handling issues delicately. Install, commission, and test the products and systems to on site acceptance testing standards up to and including full GMP standards in line with FDA and other national requirements. Feed back design issues to the Engineering group providing advice based on experience and advanced technical knowledge of our systems. Run system demonstrations for marketing purposes, both in house and when required providing a full set up commissioning and primary technical backup service at marketing conferences. Present technical and user training. This involves training scientists and on site engineers in all technical aspects and functionality of the system. Including applications support in developing and optimising customers biological processing to fine tune output cycle time and productivity. Update and, if necessary, produce documentation to cover build procedures, maintenance procedures and customer operation. Work with Partnership Services with specialist technical skills or overflow work. Supplying full technical backup and training to both UK and USA engineers internally and on site. Often at short notice, working alone and with little support due to global time zones. Provide our own training structure for new components and systems that are integrated through obsolescence and ongoing development. Provide application support to customers, developing licensed manual GMP processes in to fully automated processes this will involve optimisation of the process both in an improved yield of cell line product and cycle time of the system. Perform pre installation site visits to assess the needs and services required with the customer to facilitate a smooth and safe install. This requires making it clear to the customer what is required from both them and us. During early install phase there is the requirement to manage the activities of third party riggers ensuring that health and safety concerns are met and that installs are carried out safely and with minimal risk to the systems. Qualifications/, Experience & Skills: HNC/D (or equivalent) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Training in hardware set-up and configuration (PLC and Windows operating environments). Proven experience of working in a test environment within hi-tech engineering/manufacturing company - ideally on capital equipment or special purpose machines. Experience of electrical, mechanical and pneumatic fault-finding at system and component level including PCB diagnostics and digital I/O systems such as Interbus Phoenix diag plus. Experience of the configuration and set-up of PLC's and programmable servo drives Involving Anorad , MintII, JVL, IMS. Experience of configuring PCs, PLCs and installing software packages. Setting up networks and system communication configuration, Core PC Registry editing, script writing and editing (in VBScript or C#). Understanding of precision mechanisms and their associated electrical control systems Knowledge of PLC and Windows set-up procedures, Beckoff TwinCAT, Allen Bradley ladder logic, understanding of Pilz program structure for dynamic diagnostics. Ability to read and understand electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings. Previous experience of providing support to customers both face to face and over the telephone Ability to communicate at all levels from CEO to scientists & engineers effectively and form relationships with customers remotely as well as face to face. Understand mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical drawings Ability to carry out electrical wiring and mechanical assembly Problem-solving skills encompassing all disciplines and skills Experience of robotics, motors, servo drives, pneumatics and electromechanical assemblies Computer literacy - Windows environment Available to work away from home and travel overseas when necessary for prolonged periods (3-5 weeks) Desirable: Knowledge of PLC's Experience of CPU-based printed circuit boards, electronic modules, optical and fluidic dynamics and conveyors Familiarity with automation equipment This job was originally posted as
