A Sports focussed national membership association is looking for an exceptional Business Development Director to join their team in London Client Details Director of Business Development & Corporate Services - Sport The organisation is an umbrella body for sport in the UK and currently represents over 300 members. Organisations like The FA, the Rugby Football Union, British Athletics, Ramblers, British Rowing and the Exercise Movement and Dance Partnership. Their role, like every trade association, is to speak up on behalf of their members, represent their views and to provide them with services which make their life easier. Description Director of Business Development & Corporate Services - Sport This role is a mixed 'hybrid' role involving 50% business development and 50% overall operations management. This is NOT a traditional stand alone business development role. As such Finance experience is crucial The Director of Business Development and Corporate Services is responsible for managing corporate partner relationships and developing new business opportunities. They also ensure that the organisation is run as effectively and efficiently as possible. Business Development Management 1. Lead the development of the client's commercial activities and income diversification strategy 2. Provide strategic direction and hands on support for the work of the Business Development Manager 3. Advise the Commercial Panel, a sub committee of the Alliance Board, on the services and partnerships developed 4. Maintain oversight on the Corporate Partners scheme providing oversight and relationship management as required Financial management 5. Contribute to the achievement of the organisation's business objectives by providing advice and guidance on financial strategy. 6. Lead the provision of advice and information to the Board regarding its financial duties and responsibilities including the preparation of statutory accounts and monthly management accounts 7. Develop and control the organisation's annual operating budget to ensure that all financial targets are met and financial and statutory regulations complied with. 8. Develop and maintain all necessary systems, policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial management within the organisation and carry out all necessary actions to ensure that the company meets its financial and legal obligations Corporate Service Delivery 9. Manage contracts with suppliers of services relating to Finance, ICT, HR, property and facilities, and others, as appropriate, to ensure that these are operating effectively and provide the best value to the organisation 10. Lead the work on securing an office location post 2018 11. Lead the development of shared services for the organisation and our members 12. Lead the business continuity planning function within the organisation Team Leadership 13. Line manage all relevant staff members ensuring that their work programmes reflect corporate objectives. 14. Coordinate and maintain records of your team's progress against operational plan targets. 15. Manage budgets delegated to you. 16. Live the values of the Organisation and demonstrate our shared commitment to supporting and developing our staff. General 17. Work closely with the other members of the organisation to ensure the effective day-to-day operation of the organisation and the efficient use of resources. 18. Perform any other appropriate duties as may be reasonably required by the Chief Executive from time to time. Profile Director of Business Development & Corporate Services - Sport Experience and Skills: Financial Management Experience is Essential Significant financial management experience including budgeting, monitoring and financial reporting Business Development (sales) experience Experience of managing multi-disciplinary corporate services teams with direct experience in at least one area in addition to Finance The ability to work with and motivate a small team, and work effectively across the organisation The ability to communicate effectively at all levels Appropriate IT Skills, including advanced Excel Ability to work and represent an organisation at a senior level and develop good working relationships with key stakeholders, funders and suppliers An understanding of, and empathy with, the aims of the organisation Desirable A recognised professional accounting qualification with significant post qualification financial management experience MBA Experience of managing outsourced services Knowledge of voluntary and charity sector Strong presentation skills A working knowledge of the sport and recreation landscape in England A personal interest in the value of sport and recreation Job Offer A Salary of £60,000 - £70,000 plus discretionary company-wide bonus Excellent company benefits including 18.8% contributory pension scheme, private health-care and the possibility of flexible working if required.
