Operations Manager / Service Delivery Ref: ABP0073 Location: Ipswich Duration: Full Time, Permanent Contract Closing date for applications: 26 th October 2016 A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operations Manager/Service Delivery to join one of the UK`s largest Port Operators. Ipswich is a vibrant yet historic town which boasts 1 kilometre of waterway buzzing with night life, restaurants and shops. A relocation package is available (criteria to be met). The port of Ipswich is situated 12 miles from the open sea and is within a short sailing time from the North Sea shipping lanes. Ipswich port caters for Dry bulks, Forest products, Containers, General cargo, RoRo and Handles around 2 million tonnes each year within its 275-acre site. The role: This is a demanding and exciting newly created position, and it will include the day to day operations on both sides of the river Orwell-Cliff Quay and West Bank Terminal. The role will encompass the overall accountability for the quality and delivery of all Port operations. You should be confident in challenging current methods of operational efficiency in order to improve customer service and reduce costs. Main Duties and Responsibilities Support the Head of Operations and the Operations Planning Manager, to identify value driven opportunities and create new Operational strategies and ensure the daily plan is delivered effectively. Maximise operational performance for Port infrastructure and assets. Drive an effective communication strategy that supports ABP objectives and values. Ensure all activities are carried out in line with H&S, FIAS, and COMAH requirements and are continually reviewed for safe working practice. Act with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promotes a positive culture whilst ensuring a physical presence in the workplace. Assist the Head of Operations in developing and coordinating community relation initiatives ensuring they are aligned to core objectives and their value is maximised. Essential Experience Experience of managing people Proven management experience Strong leadership qualities Previous knowledge of H & S Ability to influence people at all levels Able to deliver exceptional customer service Proven track record of working with supervisory teams Ideal experience Educated to degree level or alternative equivalent.
