Role Summary: Established in 1988, my client is a global manufacturer and distributor. The company is 100% privately owned, and they develop both in-house and licensed brands including. Reporting to the Head of Product Development, this is an excellent opportunity for a creative product designer to join an expanding design team as they move to their new design studio. The position will suit designer who possesses excellent visual communication and illustration skills, and requires the ability to deliver products from initial conceptual development, detail design, commercial analysis, testing requirements, pre-production. This role will also include a level of project management liaising with head office in the UK, the sourcing office in the Far East and global manufacturers. The projects will be varied and include a mix of manufacturing processes and materials (plastics, plush, wood, fabric). You will also have the desire to be part of a small design team, be creative and to learn new things. It also goes without saying that you must have a passion for good design, be motivated and have great attention to detail. The Ideal Candidate: Client is looking for a design professional – ideally with at least three years' work experience in a similar professional-creative role. Responsibilities: You will work alongside the Head of Product Development and design team to deliver new fun and innovative products Ability to communicate/visualise new product concepts utilising strong graphic design, digital design and traditional illustration skills Create excellent promotional material and sales presentations Work with licensors on global brands Assist in developing and improving existing product lines Essential skills: Ability to come up with truly engaging and refreshing product concepts Strong portfolio exhibiting a natural talent for design preferably on a range of projects Bachelor's degree in a relevant creative field, eg product design Competent throughout Adobe applications – primarily Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign Solidworks CAD (surface modelling as oppose to block modelling) Sensitivity to characterisation, form, colour and graphic layout Able to work to tight deadlines on a diverse range of projects Desirable skills: Good understanding of manufacturing processes (especially injection moulding) Any rendering and mesh modelling software Hands on – ability to create proof of concept prototypes Able to create product animations and edit video 3D animation packages, PremierPro and After Effects This job was originally posted as
