The role will lead and develop the design function in the business to ensure they retain and grow their premiership status. The Role Based at their manufacturing site in Northumberland, you will lead, develop and improve all aspects of their product development department, ensuring all departmental objectives are achieved in line with company goals. You will be responsible for the development of a team of Product Engineers and a Cost Estimator utilising the latest 3D CAD software, and ensuring that their Product Development process becomes a core competency, and differentiator to support the profitable growth of the business. The team will be responsible for all NPI on bespoke projects, customisation, range extensions, and standard product improvements, providing a first class service to their sales team, customers, and clients, along with clear, concise and complete work instructions for their highly skilled production team. Key requirements will include; Sales visuals, Site surveys, Costing, Manufacturing drawings, Work instructions, Templates and tooling and Technical support (to sales and production). The Person You will be an experienced design engineer with excellent product development skills, with a real eye for detailed design and also the aesthetic elements of new product development. Experience of managing a Product Development Team in a bespoke manufacturing environment is also a key requirement. Experience of working with Solid Works. Highly numerate, with strong IT skills they will need to demonstrate a good standard of commercial and financial acumen. A self-motivated and enthusiastic individual, you will be passionate about product and design, process driven and structured in approach, and with the people skills that promotes team work while getting the best out of each and every individual.
