Do you have broad knowledge of Microfluidics and MEMS, and deep experience in practical fabrication techniques? Our client based in North Hertfordshire has an opportunity to join their Life Science team and help take new technologies from concept to production. They are seeking a bright, enthusiastic scientist or engineer to bring advanced fabrication capabilities to projects in cell therapy, diagnostics, biosensor and lab-on-a-chip. You will be capable of expanding the company's capabilities in the field of Microfluidics and MEMS and involves development of technologies for both in-house and client projects. You will work closely with a team of engineers, scientists and designers to generate concepts for new devices, develop practical fabrication routes, realise and test the devices, and work towards process scale up. They are currently engaged with cell therapy, diagnostics, biosensor and lab-on-a-chip applications. You will have excellent academic credentials and will enjoy tackling highly complex technical challenges for commercial applications with a strong degree in Engineering, Physics, Material Science, Chemistry or similar fields, from a good university. A Ph.D. in novel microfluidic / MEMS devices would be an advantage. Skills and Experience At least 3 years practical experience of developing microfluidic / MEMS devices in academia or industry Experience in microfluidic / MEMS device design, fabrication, process development, characterisation, metrology/testing and problem solving Experience of microfabrication with a variety of materials, for example silicon, glass, polymers, ceramics, piezoelectrics Experience of common MEMS / microfluidics processes, including photolithography, wet etching, DRIE etching, thin film metal deposition, soft lithography, alignment and bonding techniques Knowledge of microfabrication equipment and cleanroom practices Excellent communicator and able to relay complex ideas/concepts to both internal colleagues and external clients Experience in micro moulding/embossing/casting is a plus Knowledge of volume manufacturing is a plus This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/66882476
