Everything we do is about the customer. Whether we’re providing them with reliable energy or creating innovative solutions, our teams of genuinely helpful people work hard to make the lives of customers better. Right now, we’re looking for a Analyst Programmer to join our Field Support Operations team. This team covers 2nd line operational work as well as 3rd line change projects. It means you can expect wide variety – you could be supporting our front line operations with access requests, handling loss-of-service incidents, managing and supporting regular systems maintenance or following up on problem investigation and recommendations for small-scale change. In terms of your 3rd line responsibilities, you’ll link in closely with our Business Analysts to provide technical solutions or internal enhancements, talking responsibility for the design, build and test of your solutions. The team supports all of our systems, and helps to resolve any issues that arise with third-party providers, so the technologies will be as varied as your responsibilities. On a day-to-day level, you can expect to help us deliver change of all sizes into production environments across different functional and technical areas. That’s going to involve providing estimates for change, updating documentation, and carrying out unit testing and reviews to make sure the code is fit for purpose. It goes without saying that you’ll need to follow best practice development standards and guidelines, and we’ll also be relying on you to both challenge assumptions, and provide added value by drawing on your knowledge and experience. Your role will involve resolving any issues, influencing key decision makers to finalise the architecture and delivering on expectations, even when there are changing priorities. Beyond that, we’d like you to help mentor more junior colleagues, act as a technical focal point for multiple projects and develop a network of contacts across E.ON and our outsourced teams to ensure knowledge is shared and change is always communicated and owned. Not only is the work here fast-paced and varied, you’ll be part of a team that has the depth of knowledge and experience to support your development and help you make your mark from the outset. Required profile: Key Skill Requirements Essential •Well-honed skills in large-scale client/server system development with the ability to deploy timely and effective code for small and medium-scale change across a breadth of business and application functions. •Broad business and systems understanding (across the core ‘Big 10’ systems) with extensive experience in at least one of the following technology sets: PL/SQL, Unix Shell Script, .Net/C#, WCF, WebServices, and XML. •Strong analytical abilities – we’re looking for someone who can work with analysts and end users to design and develop effective solutions, but who can also work autonomously when it comes to performing technical analysis and solution design for small and medium-scale change. •Previous exposure to large-scale change, a detailed understanding of the IS applications landscape and an end-to-end understanding of support principles, including issue prioritisation, and incident and risk management. •The ability to apply your skills to the whole project lifecycle, particularly handover, and an appreciation of business-critical requirements and impacts. •Direct experience of system design techniques and extensive exposure to performance tuning techniques. •The ability to engage with a wide range of technical and non-technical audiences, strong influencing and communication skills, and a calm approach, even under pressure. Impress us, and you’ll progress in terms of your role, the opportunities on offer, and the rewards you receive. Due to the nature of this role a DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) check maybe required. Closing date is the 31st October 2016 Standard Benefits: •2 for 1 pension contributions •Comprehensive flexible benefits scheme •Voluntary benefits – discount and cashback •Group Life Insurance •Personal Accident Insurance •Financial advice and guidance website E.ON is committed to equal opportunities and actively promotes diversity, equality and flexibility.
