Utilities and Energy Manager - Bedfordshire - To £45,000 Purpose: As utilities and energy manager you will be responsible for all aspects of the day to day utility operations including managing a team of service technicians.As energy manager, plan, regulate and monitor energy use in the brewery. Aim to improve energy efficiency through evaluating energy use and therefore, implement new policies and changes. Principal Responsibilities: ·Provide and coach technicians and team leaders, Good Operating Practices (GOPs), in performing preventative and corrective maintenance, and utility plant operation, and energy reduction. ·Ability to forecast, organise and execute all work order requests assigned in a timely and safe manner ·Be aware of the latest technical standards in the field of relating to the operation and maintenance of utility systems ·Ability to prepare equipment reports, failure analysis and track equipment uptime status ·Ability to understand and be familiar with general maintenance work flow processes, procedures and systems ·Developing, coordinating, and implementing the aims and objectives of strategies and policies to reduce energy consumption, e.g. EU directives on energy performance and emissions, and monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of these policies and strategies, including coordinating annual progress reports; ·Providing technical and practical advice and offering training on energy efficiency; ·Contributing to sustainable development initiatives; ·Liaising and negotiating with contractors, the building supplies industry, council services and other relevant organisations; ·Ensuring accurate records are maintained and energy monitoring data is collected regularly; ·Preparing specifications, drawings and tender documents for building services, improvement or plant replacement work, including obtaining statutory approvals; ·Liaising with and providing technical support to mechanical and electrical design engineers on new and refurbishment projects regarding sustainability, energy and water conservation; ·Carrying out site inspections and energy surveys; ·Preparing detailed schedules of work, feasibility studies and cost estimates; ·Benchmarking energy consumptions against best practice guidelines; ·Regularly keep the utility section of the site operation updated with the site risk register ·Keeping abreast of legislation such as the EU Emission Trading Scheme (EU ETS), BBPA, ESOS, and ensuring compliance. ·Use of the energy monitoring system ( 'Utilitas' ) to constantly feedback on energy reduction opportunities ·Owner and regular input into the utility area 'master plan, looking at the continuity of supply from a utility perspective The Person Excellent Team Leadership Ability Energy management experience in a manufacturing environment Change and continuous improvement processes knowledge Structured/organised Relevant Qualifications Apprentice trained. HNC/HND mechanical and/or electrical.
