The Assay Development Scientist will be a key senior member of the Applied R&D team. They will use their background in bio-chemistry and assay development to create new assays, systems and processes. They will technically contribute to ground-breaking development projects; running small projects themselves and mentoring junior colleagues. The company's unique multi-fluidic chip and reader system is a game-changer and its applications vast - from Medical (patient) testing through to Environmental pollutant detection. Their work (and the work of their team) will expand on the body of knowledge within the company and co-ordinate the transfer of knowledge to the varying fields of application of the business which includes human, veterinary and environmental testing. The technology will make a real difference in how test results can be obtained and used outside of the laboratory environment. The result: rapid results and therefore rapid solutions The Scientist will develop innovative new technologies through performing a wide range of experimental assay development activities including concept generation, design, testing and implementation. They will be a key member of the Applied Research team and will report into a Senior Scientist. This is an interesting challenging and ultimately rewarding opportunity where you will play a pivotal role in the company's direction and growth. To be considered for the role of Senior Assay Development Scientist you need the following: Education - At least a good BSc, BA, MBiol, MChem) 2.1 or above in a relevant subject such as Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related subject. Experience - At least 2-3 years in a commercial R& D laboratory. Proven track record working on complex R&D projects on the development, optimisation and validation of immunoassay based tests. Good Understanding of multiple assay formats perhaps including: Electrochemical systems Lateral flow EIA Experience of working to regulatory standards (i.e. ISO 13485) Ideally Prior experience of running small projects (formally or informally) and the supervision/mentorship of junior members of staff.
