The Company This rare opportunity has arisen with our outstanding Tyne and Wear based engineering company. They are now looking for a motivated Lead Welder to join their team on an interim basis. In order to be able to undertake welding work for a new customer, their requirements for welding mean that we need to designate a time served, qualified welder to carry out the role of “Lead Welder”. The Person Maintain the welders skills matrix and coded matrix to ensure only qualified welders are selected to weld to specific customer requirements (Where required and applicable) Ensure that all weld instructions, SOP’s, WPS’s are available, clear and understood by all welders prior to undertaking a specific task Audit weld bays daily to ensure all QPR are maintained and welders are welding to correct WPS. Also include operator daily tasks as per below Liaise with sample coordinator for PPAP builds programme Prepare weld macros for PPAP and liaise with weld quality. Liaise with Process engineer daily for any audit actions that may arise or process change requirements Co-ordinate internal weld certification and macro validation to WPS on a rolling basis. (one welder per week) Liaise with maintenance on machine calibration schedule and availability (PAM System) Liaise with purchasing to ensure all safety equipment are available and in use Liaise with tool room on any clamps jigs related issues or improvements Lead TPM in welding bays Has authority to stop any process which is not in compliance No authority to authorise deviation permission from production Ensure that the welders have carried their daily / weekly inspections: Gas flow rates at nozzle and on bottles Welding tip condition Wire feed rollers inspection Power cables and socket connections for any visual damage Inspect weld gun triggers for damage Ensure that you have carried out an inspection or audit on the following: Inspect gas diffusers and shrouds to be clean and free of cracks Inspect machine earth straps and clamps for damage Inspect wire feed liners for kinks or any visual damage Inspect Measure and record voltage and amps Check for calibration identifications of flow gauges and welding machines and ensure they are valid Test and measure Wire feed speed rates Report any deviations to standards to technical and quality for further considerations The Person Time served welder with good experience of MIG and TIG welding Ideally in sizes from 3mm to 6 mm to BS EN9606 which supersedes BS EN287 (G3 code for Flat, horizontal, and vertical up should be minimum, G6 preferred) and preferably torch brazing This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/66875044
