Solutions Architect Position The Solutions Architect is responsible for the overall design of the applications and mapping the business requirements to systems and technical requirements. The role will proactively work with the business in order to fully understand the business applications landscape and arrive at a fully documented outcome. The Solutions Architect role creates the capability for a seamless transition of applications from one service provider to another thus enabling the IT Transformation project to succeed and deliver the agreed business benefits. In addition, the role will be required ongoing to support the IT organisation to become intrinsically linked with the wider business. Key Responsibilities • Produce a detailed functional design document to match business requirements • Identify business specific IT application dependencies and the coexistence of these applications • Participate in process flow analysis and process re-designs along with the Enterprise Architecture Team • Provide current best practice and 3rd party solution alternatives as part of the functional design • Working with EA & D team, the Solutions Architect role will oversee and ensure the formalisation, prioritisation and timely fulfilment of an applications configuration database • Deliver training design and documentation and support delivery of projects • Interface with Programme and Portfolio Management on a regular basis • Lead, when required, meetings with the business • Participate in projects as required Key Competencies • Experience with multiple hardware and software environments, comfortable with complex heterogeneous (diverse) systems environments • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in easy to understand business terms • Ability to drive business performance by developing and contributing specific technical or professional knowledge, skills and experience • Experience in multiple industries and across several disciplines • Committed to working collaboratively, building cohesiveness and identity within a work group, and valuing individual perspectives and contributors • Ability to understand the business requirements and converting them into solutions • Able to master a variety of hardware platforms including legacy applications, Oracle platform and mobile devices • Strong collaboration and partnering skills with a professional attitude to achieve business & IT goals Essential Qualifications and Experience • Educated to degree level or equivalent with 5 years’ experience in IT architecture • Experience of engaging partners and team members at all levels of the organisation • Experience of conflict resolution when Business and IT demands cannot simply be reconciled • Involved with complex professional relationships up to and including Senior Stakeholders • Experience of business planning processes Desirable Qualifications and Experience • TOGAF Certification • BCS related qualifications • ITIL V3 Foundation • Strong service management and Governance experience • Experience of building and maintaining business and IT strategic relationships • Strong customer and service delivery • People Management This job was originally posted as
