Principal Systems Engineer (Aerospace) Location: Cambridge Permanent Salary - £50k- £60k Principal Systems Engineer - A long established and successful defence engineering company are looking to recruit a Principal Systems Engineer to provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers. Principal Systems Engineer - Key Responsibilities: Primary Customer interface for all technical issues. Build and maintain excellent customer relationships. Lead the internal technical team and provide technical management of key suppliers. Resolve technical problems with relevant products. Determine and manage technical risk for projects. Be prepared to travel to support current and future products at customer sites around the world. To support bids and projects as required by the Engineering Manager To competently resolve technical problems associated with assigned products Strive to continuously improve the processes and procedures for which they are responsible To help ensure engineering activity is carried out in accordance with engineering procedures To support the preparation and updating of project plans for assigned projects Ensure adequate constructive challenge is presented in design reviews to identify and help mitigate any key issues Principal Systems Engineer - Skills and Experience Ability to lead multi-disciplinary team of engineers. Excellent experience of electronics/systems design in aerospace. Technically competent to assess technical risk in their area and to honestly present the detail of these risks. Familiar with appropriate standards within area. Specific: Development of safety critical designs in aerospace - concept design, detailed design, requirement validation, verification and qualification Conversant with maintenance of safety critical architectures Conversant with safety and certification requirements for aerospace Familiar with circuit design, analysis, test and modelling techniques for analogue and digital circuitry Familiar with DO254 Familiar with DO178 Familiar with DO160 Familiar with the manufacturing techniques used for aerospace electronics Able and willing to participate in product investigations resulting from aircraft incidents Good level of experience with formal requirements and their negotiation, verification and management Reliability analysis Desirable: Exposure and experience with some of the following is required: Knowledge of landing gear, door control and ice protection. Familiarity with PCB design Familiarity with EMC techniques Candidates must also be eligible to apply for British Security (SC) Clearance.
