Main Function of the job · To provide 3rd line and SME support to Barclays File Transfer environment, primarily supporting connect direct and sterling file gateway technologies. · The role provides exposure to leading edge software technology and underlying platforms operating mission critical services to the group. Key Accountabilities o Key specific accountabilities. - Represent the Middleware by operating as Middleware Technical Lead, providing key input into technical designs for a variety of projects. - This role will also provide SME and 3rd level support for Sterling Integrator and Connect Direct technologies. - Responsible for the implementation of all changes to MFT components, from request for change or project initiation through to deployment and review, to support the continued availability, effectiveness and risk compliance of the infrastructure. - To pro-actively maintain or enhance computer systems/ infrastructure components and services, maximising use of available resources to ensure that business objectives are met and deliverables achieved to agreed timescale, budget and quality - To take responsibility for completing tasks, focusing on requirements and planning to meet client needs, which the job holder helps to identify, advise and recommend technical solutions based on experience and Industry knowledge o Stakeholder management and leadership. - Work with business leads to understand future demand ensuring aligned team is adequately resources to meet requirements. - Work with other Application Hosting Tower Leads to ensure consistency, at all levels, across towers. - Provide leadership and coaching to ensure that all staff understand and are aligned to the goals and culture of Middleware, PaaS and O&T. - Build and develop a team culture and capability that embraces the external environment and enables us to measure and continuously develop our products, services and people. - Is able to clearly communicate difficult messages to senior business stakeholders with confidence in the event of dealing with project escalations. o Decision making and problem solving. - Expected to analyse working practices and come up with proactive/innovative solutions that benefit both the aligned and wider team. - Drive forward efficiencies and automation within own technology - Creation, analysis and presentation of detailed project MI. - Evaluation of team performance and trending produce regular detail MI. - Point of contact and escalation point for problems and resource allocation issues. - Ensure the team are operationally equipped to provide effective service/component monitoring, live support and incident recovery. Person specification: Your Skills and Qualifications will include - In depth experience of working in a 2nd/3rd line IT support or project delivery environment (ideally previous experience within Middleware, JAVA or related technology) - Skilled in incident, problem and change management - ITIL accreditation preferred - Analytical ability including root cause identification and pro-active service improvement - Change Management/Project build, test and implementation of Middleware/ JAVA or Web services components - Ability to understand and influence high level technical design of Middleware components - Software maintenance and patching - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Team worker/team player Must have one of the following: 1. Connect Direct - Connect Direct installation and configuration on Unix, Mainframe or Windows - Secure, SSL encryption and certificate management 2. Sterling Integrator - Sterling Integrator - SI/GIS clustering and Perimeter servers (DMZ/network experience etc.) - Administration of SI/GIS (property files, starting stopping etc.) - SI/GIS Connect Direct adapters - AFT (Advanced File Transfer) - SI/GIS SFTP adapters - GIS Business Process design and development - DBA experience preferred - General comms experience SFTP, HTTPS, CD etc. 3. Recognised SME in another File Transfer technology.
