EUROPEAN CAPITAL PROJECTS & TECHNICAL SYSTEMS MANAGER – ROBOTICS & AUTOMATION “Excellent career development opportunity for graduate calibre electrical engineer to join global multinational to manage major automation programme in multiple sites.” Salary c£40-50000 Car Allowance, Bonus & Blue Chip Benefits Location: Flexible Field Based – UK Our client is a global multinational service and solutions provider with multiple plants and service/repair centres across Europe. As part of a major transformation and automation programme and as a result of promotion, they are seeking a degree educated Electrical Engineer to join their capital projects and process engineering team as European Capital Projects & Technical Systems Manager. Specifically, the European Capital Projects & Technical Systems Manager will provide leadership on technical aspects of capex projects and equipment upgrades across Europe with a particular focus on the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. This will include management and development of engineering standards, ensuring that service/repair centres have the correct skills and systems to allow the efficient running and maintenance of equipment. Also to provide leadership in the implementation of reliability systems in the service/repair centres, ensuring adequate processes and systems are in place for measurement, tracking and continuous improvement of equipment performance. The Role: · Provide Technical leadership in the areas of controls, PLC, networking, and electrical & mechanical standards across the European Service/Repair Centre network · Develop suppliers to be able to deliver the required standards in controls and PLC programming · Coordinate between suppliers to ensure controls, programming and communication standards are applied on major projects. · Lead and manage Capital Expenditure projects when required · Develop and coordinate maintenance and spares systems that allow visibility of performance across European service centre network · Roll out automated OEE (Equipment Reliability) measurement and reporting tools · Lead programs to monitor and improve Mean Time Between Failures and Mean Time To Recovery on equipment across the network · Develop and roll out a system to track asset lifetime costs · Ensure Technical Skills assessment are carried out at sites prior to equipment being installed · Provide training and support to maintenance teams in the areas identified by the technical skills assessments and in controls and PLC equipment · Liaise with IT and project teams to ensure networking systems are correctly specified and installed prior to capex projects. · Provide or source technical support when needed for downtime incidents related to controls and PLC · Work cross functionally and at all levels within a matrix structure with Plant Managers, European Process Engineering, Supply Chain, Maintenance and Operations colleagues etc and Suppliers to improve and standardise visualisation, data collection and communications standards with SCADA The Ideal Candidate: · HNC or University degree in Electrical Engineering. · Currently working within a capital projects management role within FMCG or Manufacturing with practical experience in PLC and controls equipment. · Track record within robotics and automation projects. · Currently working within a multinational, matrix environment. · Current or recent Capital Projects Engineering Management experience gained within a very high safety culture, multi-site, heavy industrial processing sector such as FMCG, food or consumer goods, pharmaceutical or similar manufacturing environment. · Demonstrable track record of project leadership via internal site teams and external contractors/sub-contractors within a high safety critical, culture. · In-depth understanding of planned preventative maintenance, continuous improvement and energy consumption. · Excellent analytical and problem solving skills familiar with utilising root cause analysis methodologies. · Excellent financial management experience including capital investment budget proposals and approval process in line with strategic capital forecasts. · Excellent people management experience familiar with managing direct and indirect team; good persuasion and influencing capabilities, with the ability to challenge, question and collaboratively develop logical solutions within a pan European matrix structure. · Experience using lean and continuous improvement techniques will be critical to success.Change and project management experience essential. · A core expertise in Electrical Engineering plus an appreciation of a wide variety of engineering disciplines i.e. mechanical, process control and optimisation will be critical to success and credibility in this role. · High energy and resilience – familiar with handling multiple projects. A self-starter, able to operate both as part of a national and pan European team and autonomously within European regions working with plant and service/repair centre teams and support functions. · Highly developed capability to manage and control capital projects activities, budgets and costs, contractors, sub-contractors within stringent time frames is most critical.
