This can be based Nationally however requires essential travel to London. Your new role Public Health England are currently recruiting for a Category Specialist Capital. This pivitol role will be based in the Capital programme within the Science Procurement team and will be leading on all aspects of purchasing and procurement activity for one of Public Health England's main laboratory sites in Porton. The Category Specialist will be managing a portfolio of high profile and complex major capital procurement projects and will require working extensively across the business with a wide variety of stakeholders to improve scientific Contracts whilst also providing expert procurement and contract management knowledge and skills to manage, maintain and develop Capital contracts that provide value for money, while minimizing service delivery risk. The Category Specialist will also be developing and leading on a strategic sourcing programme for defined categories( Lab Capital Equipment and Maintenance) across Public Health England, taking the lead of specific/allocated portfolio of sourcing projects and ensuring the delivery of allocated procurement projects. What you'll need to succeed Public Health England are looking for driven and innovative individuals who have a desire to work at both a strategic and tactical level, throughout all stages of the procurement cycle, from shaping needs to understanding and shaping the market, then running effective and efficient procurements and leading on contract negotiations For this role you will have previous experience of Procurement and Contract Management and will need to have experience of working within the Capital / Construction Category. You can come from either a Public or a private sector background although knowledge of EU regulations would be a benefit. Equally important is a knowledge of standard terms of contract in the construction industry such as NEC3.
