Development Manager (Tribe Lead) Hello . Basically, we are a company that is going places The role: Reporting to: Head of IT Development Reporting in: Development Team Leads (Chapter Leads) As leader of one of our World First Development Tribes, you’ll nurture the growth of high-performance, highly collaborative cross-functional teams, and have primary responsibility for the values and culture to which members of the Tribe adhere. You will work closely with Business Analysts, Project Managers, and Product Owners to understand resourcing requirements, and will be responsible for ensuring that we have the correct number of squads necessary to achieve the tribes’ goals. With input from the Team (Chapter) Leads and Scrum Masters, you will be responsible for determining the appropriate size of each squad, how it is composed, and for how long it stays together. You will have the big picture of all projects coming into the tribe, and will make significant contributions to their shape, while ensuring that the correct people are engaged with them at the correct times in order to achieve maximum efficiency. You will ensure that Squads have good visibility of their roadmaps, and an awareness of where their work fits into the bigger picture in order to help enable their empowerment and autonomy. You will work to facilitate the transfer of knowledge between the various Squads and Chapters within the Tribe, and to ensure that they are working in alignment with each other, with the business goals of the company, and with the architectural vision for the department. You will encourage communication at every turn, and will help foster the mechanisms through which that can happen, both within the Tribe and Inter-Tribe. You will co-ordinate with other Tribe Leads to ensure consistency across the department, and will work closely with them and the CAB to avoid clashes when scheduling releases. You will have direct line management of the Team (Chapter) Leads who fall within your Tribe, and will have oversight of the recruitment and subsequent on-boarding process of any new personnel coming into the Tribe. You will act as mentor, coach, and facilitator to your Tribe, and will be seen as a key member of staff in the organisation, and a go-to person within the dept. Having overall responsibility for Tribe delivery, you will monitor and report on Squad performance, while constantly seeking innovative ways to keep them engaged and help them improve.
