Job Salary: £35k-£38k per hour (dependent upon experience)

Job Description

Our client are specifically looking for Quality Engineers with expertise (knowledge and experience) within the following disciplines:

- Electric vehicle
- Electrical systems (LV and HV)
- Vehicle Software
- Diagnostics

In conjunction with this, the Quality Engineer will be ultimately be responsible for continually monitoring and driving quality improvements, through sound problem identification and resolution methodologies from build phases of the TX5 product through to full sales launch.

Other responsibilities as the Vehicle Electrical Quality Engineer include:

- Investigate and actively own identified problems related to individual responsibilities until completion, inclusive of Warranty and Production data.
- Evaluate potential Root Cause and instigate/drive problem resolution process, manage responses and track close outs.
- Capture and report through KPI process to management team for review, taking advantage of the internal infrastructure to recommend actions and next steps.
- Drive down cost of quality issues to maximise effect to business and operations.
- Work closely with NCM management team to feed into complex problem resolution activities.
- Support team members in critical and significant Quality issues through active problem definition and resolution teams.
- Identify internal continuous improvement opportunities and developing step delivery action plans to execute.
- Provide support and be able to coach auditor and technicians as appropriate.

Person Specification:

- Be able effectively communicate with Management and internal functions effects and understanding of all issues under investigation.
- Established technical experience in one of the following disciplines: Body Structures / Vehicle Assembly / Quality Standards. Expert status is advantageous in body structures (panels and paint), internal trim and architecture, powertrain and electrical.
- Knowledge and understanding of mechanical complexities of a vehicle - inclusive of electrical aspects where possible.
- Experience of a vehicle/engineering environment, with knowledge of working within New Model Introduction (NPI) teams being desirable.
- Experience of working with automotive parts and suppliers.
- Proficient in investigating complex dimensional and functional problems and instigating primary containment actions.
- Be able to understand 3D CAD, 2D drawings and material specs and to devise an investigation method for a given situation.
- Determined and self-motivated with a flexible approach.
- Be analytical and decisive, with the ability to work autonomously where necessary.
- Strong communication/negotiation skills - verbal, written and electronically.
- Be a team player with a robust customer focus approach.
- Preferably HNC (min) qualified or equivalent in a Mechanical/Manufacturing/Quality Engineering discipline. Six sigma qualification is desirable.
