Ford & Stanley - The Rail Recruitment Experts are recruiting a Project Engineer for a global rail organisation based in South Yorkshire.

The Opportunity

Our client is a single source of a complete range of specialist skillsets, resources and technologies that seek to improve the country's railway systems. Due to the continued expansion of the business and the consistent winning of high profile projects, the need for a project engineer has never been more apparent.

Working within the repair & modification team the successful candidate will be given the chance to be fully integrated into a team that works at the fore-front of rail engineering.

Location (s): Doncaster, South Yorkshire

Role and Responsibilities:

- Ability to manage a team of engineers
- Carry out quality spot checks on completed work- to ensure high quality output
- Provide solutions for live issues occurred during the overhaul of components/train.
- 'Hands on' support provided during the overhaul stages of the project
- Implement solution(s) under very tight timescales
- Conducting FMEA (Failure Modes & Effects Analysis) on new prototypes
- Offsite (Depot) 'Retro-fit' work carried out
- Attend Daily production meetings
- Hold daily/weekly progress meetings with the team and customer.
- Track team progress via tracking charts and KPI's
- Weekly and monthly end costs
- Delegate specific and relevant workload to graduates to help them develop into competent mechanical engineers.
- Work alongside other business units to ensure a smooth running of the project. I.e. purchasing, quality, health & safety & production.

The Candidate

Ideally you would have had 5 years' experience in an engineering environment, seeking to grow your capabilities in a project focused role. Your strong technical skills combined with your Engineering degree will ensure you thoroughly challenged and continuously supported through professional and personal development.


- Degree qualified within an Engineering discipline
- Ideal industries: rail and/or aerospace
- 2-3 years' project engineering experience
- 5 years' experience within engineering
- Good communication
- Ability to interact with clients where necessary
- Desire to be challenged
- Willing to learn and develop your career, working towards chartered status if not already attained


- Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership
