Salary: £42,149 - £55,669 (SSE9) depending on experience + bonus

We are currently looking for an ICT Engineer to join our Active Solutions team within the Engineering and Investment department. The main purpose of this role is to design the ICT components of Active Solution schemes (control schemes for controlling demand and or generation or increasing network capacity), as directed to by System Planning through the Distribution Major Projects Investment Management Process. This includes providing the business with the technical expertise in carrying out all aspects of the ICT technical assessment, planning and development of active solutions in order to drive best value for the business, whilst ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory and licence requirements in the most efficient and co-ordinated manner.

You will assist with scheme design and support, including development of ICT requirements and designs, and subsequent scheme appraisal to ensure requirements accounted for, to feed into Future Network or active solution scheme designs whilst ensuring that the most economic and efficient solution is delivered in a sustainable way. To be successful in this role, you will be able to apply ICT knowledge including tools, data, techniques and data handling, lending to the testing duties of the role; you will support all testing of active systems through reviewal and approval of test specifications designed to prove system functionality across all testing stages.

With multiple stakeholder management and on-going project management responsibilities, your understanding of how the UK Utility industry operated, and the regulations within it, will prove of high importance. Your project management abilities will be essential, with knowledge and functional ability in all technical elements involved. You will also have financial management responsibilities, developing budget figures for the ICT components of each active solution project. You will have an appreciation of electrical power systems (transmission and distribution networks) derived from experience in a similar role or from academic study. An awareness of cyber security will be advantageous in this role.

Having excellent interpersonal skills, you will be capable of building lasting relationships with stakeholders at all levels. As a result of this, you will have first class verbal and written communication skills, being able to convey your position in a clear and concise manner. You will have excellent organisational skills with the ability to work quickly, accurately and independently whilst under pressure to highly detailed briefs.
