Due to exciting, strategic plans Electricity North West are looking to recruit an IT&T Category Manager in to the business. You will deliver the IT&T procurement strategy ensuring legislative compliance and bespoke services are provided to the IT&T business which offers affordable solutions and an efficient service.

Electricity North West owns, operates and maintains the North West's electricity distribution network, connecting 2.4 million properties, and more than 5 million people in the region to the National Grid.

They own one of the original 14 regulated electricity distribution networks in England, Wales and Scotland and are regulated by Ofgem - the Office of the gas and electricity markets. Their network covers a diverse range of terrain, from isolated farms in rural areas such as Cumbria, to areas of heavy industry and urban populations including Manchester.

Detailed Job Description

- To work closely with the Procurement Manager and leadership team within IT&T to develop and implement key spend categories through the internal assessment of current and future needs.
- To review, develop and implement processes which support the selection of future suppliers to drive continuous incremental improvement across the IT&T function.
- To be the IT procurement expert, managing the full procurement cycle of all IT&T tenders ensuring projects deliver the optimum whole life value and savings in line with the annual business plan.
- To manage the IT category deliverables, saving commitments, milestones and obligations including establishing project procurement plans in line with the wider procurement strategy.
- To proactively develop, maintain and influence a network of contacts across the business, industry and supplier base to deliver the IT&T procurement strategy.
- To have an awareness of market trends and dynamics within the category in order to inform strategic business decisions, challenging the status quo in order to deliver best savings and contractual coverage.
- To promote a strong commercial ethos throughout the IT&T team, leading identification of required training and subsequent delivery.
- To initiate and manage IT&T tender and prequalification exercises to meet business requirements, ensuring compliance with EU procurement legislation.
- To manage the performance of the category team, identifying development opportunities, managing risk and creating a culture of continuous improvement and a positive climate.

Candidate's Profile

- Procurement leadership experience
- Extensive knowledge of IT category
- Experience of working within the Utilities or associated sector
- Commercial awareness
- Detailed knowledge of procurement process
- Detailed and up to date awareness of EU procurement legislation
- Excellent communication skills
- Professionally qualified in a relevant discipline, CIPS or RICS
