The Environment, Energy and Engineering Officer, will be responsible for all Environmental and Building Services activity both operational and none operational throughout the service. Specific emphasis will be placed on energy efficiency/carbon reduction and management of all building services (mechanical and electrical) to existing and proposed property assets.

My Client is one of the leading fire and rescue services who are looking for a Environment, Energy and Engineering Officer. You will be joining the Property Management Team on a 6 month contract based in Winsford, Cheshire.


Environment, Energy and Engineering Officer;

  • Monitor and review energy, water and fuel consumption's
  • Manage site consumption's/ reduce unnecessary consumption's and costs
  • Liaise with procurement to coordinate tenders and quotations for energy, water and fuel
  • Investigate and advise on alternative energy sources
  • Manage implementation processes on sites in conjunction with the Senior Property Officer
  • Assess the existing engineering installations and develop energy and building services improvement initiatives
  • Have an excellent knowledge of current legislation
  • Keep up to date with changing legislation to ensure good practice and any financial implications of future legislation
  • Develop and maintain environmental and energy performance indicators
  • Produce management information and reports as required by the Head of Property Management.
  • Liaise with public bodies and agencies to promotes best practice and raise the external profile of the Authority
  • Monitor income and expenditure relating to the environment and energy
  • Provide updates to the Property Support Office to enable preparation of financial reports
  • Manage Legionella consultant/contract and ensure all remedial works are dealt with as and when identified
  • Generate and manage a programme of mechanical and electrical/energy conservation works identified from site energy and environmental audits, monitoring systems and feasibility studies
  • Develop and implement a policy to ensure that corporate social responsibility and energy awareness is embedded within the organisation
  • Deliver on site training for building users on all aspects of energy controls and equipment


  • Extensive environmental and /or building services background
  • Technical environmental and/or engineering qualification i.e ONC/ HNC/ NVQ
  • P901: Legionella Prevention- management & control of buildings Hot and Cold water Services
  • Relevant environmental/ engineering degree or professional qualification is desirable
  • knowledge of public sector property maintenance and development, conducting energy and environmental audits
  • thorough understanding of environmental and energy/carbon reduction legislative requirements
  • Background in project management
  • Background in energy procurement and management
  • Knowledge of large engineering/building services applications including BMS systems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to implement solutions
  • Hold a full UK driving licence

Job Offer

Role: Environment, Energy and Engineering Officer

Salary: £25440- £27123

37 Hours per week

Location: Winsford, Cheshire
