IT Systems and Network Administrator - Mid Glamorgan - £Competitive Salary


UK wide market leader in the manufacture of semi-finished products.

Purpose of the role:

The IT Systems and Network Administrator will be responsible for supporting core IT Infrastructure components across the UK.

Scope & Relationships:

- You will work as part of a busy IT team, developing a good understanding of the Groups IT Infrastructure especially in regard to servers, network and storage, allowing you to provide both break fix and proactive support and development to those systems.
- Forming good working relationships with departmental senior managers/key-users and supporting their access to vital IT services.

Daily Duties:

- Providing Second and Third line support to core infrastructure components such as Servers (both Physical and Virtual), Networks and Storage
- Continuously strive to achieve an excellent understanding of the business processes and procedures used and how the IT systems apply to these processes.
- Responsible for installing and configuring all IT infrastructure
- Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults.
- Provide assistance and support within the UK to harmonize and integrate its core IT infrastructure in line with our parent company
- Act as a point of contact with our German parent companies IT team in relation to IT infrastructure
- Manage own workload, duties and projects to ensure a timely response utilising extensive prioritisation skills, escalating issues to third party providers if required.
- Work with team members to consistently develop skills and knowledge within the department, offering an increasing standard of support.
- Provide IT-related project support as required and directed by the Senior IT Support Engineer.
- Managing and updating existing documentation and where necessary create appropriate documentation for IT systems.


A proven ability to provide excellent timely first line IT support on a wide variety of systems including the following:

- Microsoft Windows Server 2008R2/2012
- Microsoft Exchange Server.
- VMWare Virtual Environments.
- Networking
- Wireless Lan
