Salary: £22,212 to £26,293 plus car mileage allowance of 45p per mile
Contract: Full time, permanent
Hours: 36.25 hours per week in line with service requirements and the Work Life Balance Scheme
N.B. very occasional early morning, evening and/or weekend work may be required, but notice will be given

The role

We need an efficient, customer focussed HR Advisor to join our team in providing a full range of generalist support and guidance to our managers on effectively managing sickness cases and other people related employment matters.

The ideal candidate

Must have skills/experience/personal competencies:

- Experience of working with and applying at least 4 specific areas of HR policy and practice, e.g. managing sickness absence, recruitment and selection, disciplinary, grievance, performance management, bullying and harassment, job evaluation, statistical information, statutory maternity/paternity, etc. by following best practice methods.
- Knowledge of relevant employment legislation
- Ability to deal with challenging situations using influence and persuasion skills to ensure consistency of decision making and that the HR service is not compromised
- Ability to develop HR policies, procedures and administrative processes
- Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to produce both standard and bespoke correspondence and documents to a professional and accurate standard
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive matters with tact and diplomacy
- Ability to assess situations, investigate and establish the facts to advise on the appropriate course of action
- Awareness and understanding of the equality and diversity issues within an HR environment and how they will impact on others within the society
- Experience in either an HR service or a supervisory position applying HR policies

Skills and experience which are good to have

- Experience of best practice methods to reduce sickness absence
- Experience of competency based recruitment processes
- Experience of using an HR/Payroll system
- Experience of using a job evaluation system
- Experience of delivering training on a face to face basis
- Effective mediation and negotiation skills to deliver positive outcomes
