About the course

The ILM Level 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management Skills is specially designed to offer progression to ILM Level 2 and ILM Level 3 students. Helping them to develop their skills and experience, improve performance and prepare for senior management responsibilities.

The Certificate in Leadership and Management Skills builds and broadens the skills and knowledge already gained, using practical techniques in motivating teams, strategic leadership as well as day-today management. You will also explore how to raise your profile in your organisation, benchmark your managerial skills and develop your ability to lead, motivate and inspire. Structure of Qualification

Unit 1 – Developing Critical Thinking

Be able to critically assess own beliefs, attitudes and value systems
Be able to critically assess the validity of management theories in relation to own beliefs, attitudes and values

Unit 2 – Leading Innovation and Change

To identify the need for, propose and manage change;
Provide you with the tools and leadership models to manage a change;
For the end of unit assessment using a real work-based change management project.

Unit 3 – Motivating People in the Workplace – (Certificate Only)

Understand the factors that may affect performance and motivation in the work place
Be able to improve levels of motivation and increase performance in the workplace

Unit 4 – Developing your leadership styles – (Certificate Only)

Understand the outcomes of effective leadership.
Be able to assess own leadership styles.
Understand the implications of own leadership styles for self and for leadership within own organisation.
Be able to assess own leadership behaviour, in terms of the factors which determine effective leadership.
Understand how to develop own leadership style and effectiveness.
