The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) is the largest bookkeeping institute in the world. It promotes and maintains the standards of bookkeeping as a profession through relevant qualifications, awarding grades of membership that recognise academic and working achievement.

The ICB’s role as a bookkeeping membership body means they provide ongoing support to members to ensure their bookkeepers are up to date with bookkeeping legislation, obligations and are trusted to provide the highest quality of bookkeeping service to businesses.

Course Units

  • Create a set of accounts for a business from incomplete records to the appropriate industry standard
  • Prepare a set of final accounts for a limited company for the purposes of internal management, in accordance with industry best practices.
  • Prepare a set of final accounts for a limited liability partnership consisting of an income statement and balance sheet only.
  • Calculate and interpret partnership profit ratios.
  • Correctly adjust the capital share of partners should any changes affect the profit sharing ratio.
  • Understand financial statements and how they apply – this includes being able to calculate and explain profitability and liquidity ratios for the business.
  • Locate, understand and apply all the above in a computerised management system.
