Senior Design Manager/CEM Bristol Are you a Senior Design Manager looking for the chance to step up to CEM level? Or already at that level looking for a new challenge in a high-paced environment? If so, read on THE COMPANY My client is a leading rail maintenance contractor who are part of a wider construction company operating all over the UK in various sectors, with a group turnover just shy of £1billion. Their rail division is a market specialist who have successfully won work on several frameworks across the UK, with a view to continue growing and to get their foot in the door with larger projects. They are now seeking a CEM to join the team out of Bristol ABOUT THE JOB In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the design function within the business and managing the client throughout. Although, this CEM role is different to any other, as you'll be out on site regularly getting stuck in - so if there's temporary works that needs building, you better get cracking With this role comes plenty of opportunities to progress - the company are looking for someone who can provide guidance to the more junior staff, with the chance to be a member of the board in the future The CEM will be responsible for all design aspects on all projects, as well as managing the design team, including Designers, CREs, Design Managers, TWCs and reporting directly to the Rail Director. The pressure is most definitely on within this position, can you handle it? IDEAL CANDIDATE With having experience as CEM, you will know that this is a tough job. There's a lot of things to cover and high expectations in this role, as essentially, you're the key person responsible for all design elements of any project. One thing my client would expect of you that is outside the normal realms is that you will be expected to muck in on site when necessary - for example, helping to set up the temporary works, assemble scaffolding etc. The culture of the company is that everyone is there to help each other to move the project along, so you must share the same attitude EXPERIENCE REQUIRED To be considered for this role, you must have rail civils site experience, non-negotiable. You don't need to already be signed off CEM, as long as you are already a CRE looking for the next step up and have acted at this level before (however if you are a CEM, even better) Ideally you would be chartered, but as a minimum you do need a HND in Civil Engineering. Also, you must have a driving licence and valid PTS. PACKAGE My client is offering an excellent salary depending on your experience, ranging between £60k - £70k, plus a company car or car allowance, excellent benefits package and 26 days' holiday. For the right candidate, there may be some flexibility on salary.
