Design Manager Bristol A once in a lifetime opportunity for a Construction Manager or Site Agent in rail looking to step up to the plate for a career within Design Management - or a Design Manager looking for an exciting new challenge in a fast-paced environment THE COMPANY My client is a leading rail maintenance contractor who are part of a wider construction company operating all over the UK in various sectors, with a group turnover just shy of £1billion. Their rail division is a market specialist who have successfully won work on several frameworks across the UK, with a view to continue growing and to get their foot in the door with larger projects. They are now seeking a Design Manager to join the team out of Bristol ABOUT THE JOB In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the design function within the business and managing the client throughout. Although, this Design Manager role is different to any other, as you'll be out on site regularly getting stuck in - so if there's temporary works that needs building, you better get cracking With this role comes plenty of opportunities to progress - the company are looking for people to develop and move up the ladder to CRE & CEM status and eventually become a member of the board The responsibilities centre around being the point of contact for any technical queries and signing off the design part of all site paperwork - WPPs, task briefs, health and safety documents, inspection and test plants etc. whilst also liaising with the TWC and rest of the site team. So, this isn't for someone who wants to sit behind their desk staring at a design all day, this is for someone who enjoys being heavily involved with everything to do with the project - is this person you? IDEAL CANDIDATE As an experienced Design Manager, you will know that the entire design process can be incredibly complicated. From approving initial designs, to signing off amendments and having input to the tender & bid process, you must be able to keep a level head whilst juggling a heavy workload. Also, you must have knowledge of how a site operates and not be afraid to muck in when needed, so this would suit someone who moved up through a site role to the design function within a business. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED To be considered for this role, you must have rail civils site experience, non-negotiable. You don't need to already be signed off CRE, as long as you do have experience of being involved with the design process within the project - for example, reviewing desings, requesting/making amendments, liaising with designer etc Ideally you would be chartered, but as a minimum you do need a HND in Civil Engineering. Also, you must have a driving licence and valid PTS. PACKAGE My client is offering an excellent salary depending on your experience, ranging between £50k - £60k, plus a company car or car allowance, excellent benefits package and 26 days' holiday.
